Title: The Fill-In Boyfriend
Author: Kasie West
Series: N/A, Standalone
Genre: Young Adult, Romance, Contemporary
Publication Date: May 5th 2015
My Rating: 4.5 Stars
When Gia Montgomery's
boyfriend, Bradley, dumps her in the parking lot of her high school
prom, she has to think fast. After all, she'd been telling her friends
about him for months now. This was supposed to be the night she proved
he existed. So when she sees a cute guy waiting to pick up his sister,
she enlists his help. The task is simple: be her fill-in boyfriend—two
hours, zero commitment, a few white lies. After that, she can win back
the real Bradley.
The problem is that days after prom, it's not
the real Bradley she's thinking about, but the stand-in. The one whose
name she doesn't even know. But tracking him down doesn't mean they're
done faking a relationship. Gia owes him a favor and his sister intends
to see that he collects: his ex-girlfriend's graduation party—three
hours, zero commitment, a few white lies.
Just when Gia begins to
wonder if she could turn her fake boyfriend into a real one, Bradley
comes waltzing back into her life, exposing her lie, and threatening to
destroy her friendships and her new-found relationship.
I received an ARC
copy of this book from the publisher through Edelweiss in exchange for
an honest review. I would also like to thank Paulien for buddy reading this book with me. :)
"Gah, this book makes me giddy. It's cute and it has enough snark to
make me laugh once in a while. Kasie West has done it again, folks!"
Gia's boyfriend Bradley dumps her in the parking lot on prom night, Gia
is devastated. Her friends were already doubting if this college guy
Bradley was even real, and her showing up date-less on prom would only
solidify their doubts. So when Gia looks around the parking lot and sees
a guy inside the car, she asks for a favor for him to pretend to be
Bradley. Fill-in Bradley did such an amazing job, and Gia just couldn't
help but think of him and want to know him more.
Fill-In Boyfriend was one of my most anticipated 2015 releases since I
loved reading all of Kasie West's contemporary romance novels, and this
one sure didn't disappoint. I just love West's style of writing, and I once more got a taste of it in The Fill-In Boyfriend.
This book made me giddy, laugh and feel all the feels. This was a fantastic light read; a break from all the books with heavy issues that are popular lately. But despite this being a light read, it was still very meaningful and I still took a lot from it. I really connected with the story even though I've never had a similar experience.
I loved about this book was how it showed a very fun, almost
unrealistic family, and an imperfect family. In most books it's just
one, and usually it's the 'bad family' which is shown. It's nice to see 'good families' in books for a change, and it's even nicer to see how every family can be different!
really loved Hayden and Bec in the story. I loved how understanding and
compassionate Hayden was, how quirky and real Bec was. I love how they
are as siblings. It makes me wish to have them as friends, and it also
made me wish that I could have the same relationship with my siblings.
was a really great read. I'm so glad that I was not disappointed
because I've read mixed reviews. I admit that this book is not for
everyone, but it definitely was for me. :)
