Can the best thing happen at the worst time?

Her dad went crazy. Her mom left town. She has bills to pay and a little sister to look after. Now is not the time for level-headed seventeen-year-old Lucille to fall in love. But love—messy, inconvenient love—is what she's about to experience when she falls for Digby Jones, her best friend's brother. With blazing longing that builds to a fever pitch, Estelle Laure's soulful debut will keep readers hooked and hoping until the very last page.

  I was given an ARC by the publisher through Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

This Raging Light proves that the main character doesn't have to be an assassin, a vigilante, nor a queen to be badass.

Lucille's dad was admitted to a mental facility when she was younger, and ever since then her mother has never been the same. Now, even her mom is gone. On top of that, she has a baby sister to take care of, bills to pay, a best friend to worry about, and worse of all, a boy who has a girlfriend to fall in love with.

I gotta tell you, I felt like the tone and the way that this book was written felt different for me. It took me a while to get used to it, but once I did it didn't take me long to fall in love with the story. I can't ever imagine being put into Lucille's shoes, but I must tell you that she is the most badass main character I've read.

Like what Fred said, Lucille is someone who jumps and takes actions; who doesn't wait for things to happen. She's strong and brave at the same time, but she's also vulnerable because after all, she's just human. I'm glad that she learned to let others helped her in the novel, and that's one more thing that made her stronger.

I loved how this book was also about hidden angels. I loved the way that things progressed - how the characters grew as time passed. Even Wren, as little as 10, really stepped up. I loved how honest to book is, and how it made me feel.

I didn't like how things ended though. I felt like there were just to many things left unexplained. Maybe the author meant for it to be that way, but I definitely wasn't satisfied by it. {See spoiler on Goodreads}

Still, I recommend this book. This Raging Light is definitely an amazing book about a teen who had to grow up too soon. A must-read.
