St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Vampire Academy is the first book in a series of the same name by Richelle Mead.I actually read the book way back, but whenever I'm bored, I still find myself rereading this book. I think this is my 5th time, at the least.

To be honest, when I just read the description, I didnt like it very much. What are these strigoi, moroi and dhampirs? I didnt get it! And I was frustrated. But since I was bored, then oh well, why not just read it? And boy was I thankful that I read it, cause it turned out to be one my my favorite books ever!

I love the whole idea of the book. Before, our perspective of vampires are, they are the bad, creepy guys. Then came Twilight, which gave us a whole new perspective on the vampire thing- that they are not bad guys. This, Vampire Academy, gave us what is more realistic. That there are two types of vampires-one good, one bad. I really liked the idea of dhampirs too! It was very creative of Richelle Mead.

For me, this book is everything a book should be! See, there's romance, drama, action, adventure and the the characteristics that I want to find in a good book. And also, I loved the characters of this book! The plot is very good, and keeps the reader interested. I swear, I finished reading this in one sitting when I first read it, and I keep rereading it. I guarantee you that this is a book worth your time. I wont say more, for I might spoil some stuff. :)
Overall rating is 5 out of 5 hearts ♥♥♥♥♥

!!SPOILER ALERT!!
“Do you think I'm pretty?
I think you're beautiful
Beautiful?
You are so beautiful, it hurts sometimes.”

“Did you see that dress?” "I saw the dress.” "Did you like it?” He didn't answer. I took that as a yes. "Am I going to endanger my reputation if I wear it to the dance?” When he spoke, I could barely hear him. "You'll endanger the school.” I smiled and fell asleep.”

“The greatest and most powerful revolutions often start very quietly, hidden in the shadows. Remember that.”

“If I let myself love you, I won't throw myself in front of her. I'll throw myself in front of you.”
