1 crush on your best friend +
1 gorgeous, scheming new girl +
1 Mathletics competition =
1 big mess
SIMPLIFY.

Ashley Price doesn’t have much in life after being bullied so hard she had to leave her old school to live with her aunt and uncle in Pittsburgh. But the camera she borrowed from her best friend and secret crush Brendan, and her off the charts math abilities, make things a lot more bearable. Plus, since Brendan is the captain, making the school Mathletes team should be easy.

But when gorgeous new girl Sofia rolls in and steals Brendan, Ashley's place on the team, and her fragile foothold on the Mansfield Park Prep social totem pole, it’s on. Sofia is everything Ashley left her old school to escape. The only thing Ashley didn’t count on is Sofia’s sexy twin brother Vincent.

Vincent is not only the hottest boy in school, he’s charming, sweet, and he’s got his eye on Ashley. He’s also not taking no for an answer. There's no real reason Ashley shouldn't like Vincent, but with the battle lines being drawn between her and Sofia, Ashley’s not sure which side he’s on. Or which side she wants him to be on.

She does know Sofia is trouble with a capital T, and she’s determined to make Brendan see it.

SOLVING FOR EX is a YA contemporary romance that remixes Mansfield Park as Clueless meets Mean Girls in a crazy mix of high school society, mathletic competition, and teenage romance.

Thank you Leigh Ann Kopans and The Fantastic Flying Book Club Tours for the awesome ARC! This, in no way, would affect my review of this book.

Solving For Ex had me from the cute book cover to the awesome synopsis, so when I saw that there was a blog tour for it, I immediately jumped at the chance to read and review it. I must say, I was not disappointed for having requested this one!

Ashley Price, a Mathlete, transferred to Mansfield Park Prep in Pittsburg after being accused falsely at her old school and being bullied by her peers. There, she met her best friend Brendan, who she's got a crush on, but didn't want to risk their friendship for it.

Just like Ashley, Brendan is also on the Mathletes team. He's the one who helped Ashley stand back up when she came to Pittsburg in a depressed state. Everything was fine and good, until Sophia and her twin Vincent arrived.

Suddenly, Brendan's attention shifted to Sophia, and he didn't seem to have time for Ashley anymore. But then, Sophia's twin brother, Vincent has his attention turned on Ashley. He's charming and sweet, and insistent, so Ashley ends up spending time with him too.

I really liked reading this book. I enjoyed it because the drama was neither too much nor too few - it had a perfect balance in between. Though I felt like this might be a little bit corny from the synopsis, it did not feel that way at all while I was reading the novel.

I enjoyed the novel and was kept entertained throughout - to the point that I didn't want to put it down - but I just can't help but feel like there's something missing in the novel. I felt like it only discussed the romance part of life, and not the deeper ones. Problems like the bullying and (SPOILER) Brendan's mother emerged in the story, but it wasn't exactly discussed nor solved. I felt like had those problems been given more attention, this book would have turned out to have had more impact on me.

I really wanted to give this book five stars - because after all, I really really liked the story - but after the internal battle with myself, I decided on four stars because of the points made above. Nonetheless, I still loved reading this book, and would suggest contemporary lovers to try this one out!
